Happy 2017! The start of a New Year, full of hopes and possibilities! With everything that’s happening in the world today, should be interesting. (Not really…trying to be more optimistic this year but let’s face it, I’m a realist, and I’m scared.)

Anyhoo, I’ve been watching migrating geese passing overhead the last few weeks as they shift their feeding grounds to those with more open waters and chance at living a decent, well-fed life. I feel many of us try to do this during this time of year, or think about doing it at least. Like many, I have grand plans in my head of what I’d like to accomplish this year, but how many people actually translate into action the thoughts in their head? I’m guessing not many.

Oh, a few will try to exercise more or start a new hobby or even something major like a new career or going back to school. Unfortunately, it’s really hard giving up what we already do and are comfortable with, even if we aren’t fulfilled and crave more for our lives. Change is scary, and I think we feel we could “rock the boat” and make it even worse. So we don’t take chances; we don’t give a full effort in trying new things. And that’s what makes life stagnant and boring. That sucks.

So fellow humans, I’m laying it all out for you; my list of resolutions. If you’d like to share yours, please do so. I would love to feel I’m not in this alone…cause it’s scary…and I may not succeed. But you know what? Sometimes you just gotta say what the fuck, and do it anyway.

2017 Resolutions, or Things I Want to Do but We’ll See What Really Happens

1.       Publish at least 2 blog posts a month.

2.       Basically keep trying to eat right and exercise a little more, because I mean who are we kidding, getting buff just isn’t in the cards for me. I will never look or move like ScarJo as Black Widow.

3.       Get out and bird more. I got new binoculars and some CD’s on bird songs to learn so hopefully this works out.

4.       Learn to play the violin. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. How weirdly random is that?? But I’ve always wanted to learn, so I bought one off of Amazon. I used to play the saxophone, so I can read music. We’ll see how it goes.

5.       Get more bills paid off and try to save a little more. In the next year or so I’m contemplating buying a condo. I’m not sure how smart that is since I’m over 50 and don’t want a mortgage until the day I die, but this is a discussion for another post, so to continue,

6.       Travel. Traveling is the one thing I always wanted to do but becoming a single mom (the greatest thing ever and I love my kid!) made that next to impossible. She’s older now so it’s momma’s turn! Going on an East Coast cruise this summer (hoping to see a Puffin!!), and maybe another little side trip, even if it’s just here in Ohio. I have a passport now so who knows where I may end up.

Okay, there it is. My list of goals for the year. I feel like it’s very doable, but I say that every year so what the hell do I know.

Hope you stay along for the ride. It may get bumpy, but it may also get exciting. No way to know without trying.
